Some types of accommodation are very popular and can become oversubscribed. The Allocations Team will always take your preferences into consideration and will try to offer your first choice preference. However this cannot always be guaranteed. Where we are unable to obtain your first choice we will offer you an alternative, subject to availability and the accommodation allocation policy.

Term Time Bookings

Before receiving your provisional room offer (returning students) or room allocation (new students and late returners)

You may request for the Allocations Team to update/change your accommodation preferences by emailing the team. Your details will automatically be updated within 2 working days. If there are any problems with your request the Student Living Team will be in contact with you.

Once you have received your provisional room allocation (returning students)

You may complete a room exchange form online to add your details to the waiting list to change your allocation. Unfortunately, we are not able to guarantee to change your room but should a suitable room become available we will contact you. If you are successful in being able to change your allocation and are in a group you would be moved as an individual and the rest of your group would remain in their original allocation.

After you have been allocated a room and before you have collected the keys

It is usually not possible to change your allocation due to lack of availability. However you may wish to complete a room exchange form online to add your details to the waiting list to change your allocation. Unfortunately, we are not able to guarantee to change your room but should a suitable room become available we will contact you. If you are successful in being able to change your allocation and are in a group you would be moved as an individual and the rest of your group would remain in their original allocation.

After you have collected the keys for your accommodation

You will be able to put your details on the room exchange/swap waiting list by submitting room exchange form online. Unfortunately we are not able to guarantee to change your room but should a suitable exchange/swap become available we will contact you. Please also see 'How does a room exchange work?’.
