If you have a term time contract then you will have agreed to a contract for the full period of your academic year. However, we understand this may cause some hardship for some students and therefore if a student wishes to terminate their term time Licence Agreement early, the University operates the following procedure. Before 10am 20 February 2017 for undergraduate, language and PGCert length contracts and before 10am 3 July 2017 for postgraduate/research length contracts: the student is charged a £350 break of contract (£450 for studio flats) and for the number of nights in accommodation until the keys are returned to the Residences Office. Any payments that you make such as your booking fee or rental payments will be off-set against these charges. Once you have vacated Accommodation Services will be in contact with you by email to confirm any overpayment/outstanding amounts.
If you vacate your room after 10am 20 February 2017 for undergraduate, language and PGCert length contracts and after 10am 3 July 2017 for postgraduate/research length contracts, you will be charged until the end of your term time Licence Agreement. Students will need to hand their keys into their Residence Office in order to vacate not just remove their belongings from the room.
For further information about vacating before your contract ends please refer to the Residence Rules and Regulations.
If you have a summer vacation contract please read the question 'Can I move out of my room before the end of my summer vacation contract and what will I be charged?'.
