There are three types of access cards used to enter campus Halls of Residence; temporary visitors card, student ID card and Salto card.

Where a temporary visitor’s card is issued on your arrival you will have to contact the Student Living Team in a few days of your key collection date and change the access onto your student ID card. It is important to change it as soon as possible as your temporary visitor’s card may stop working, restricting your access to your building. ** If you are collecting your keys during term time, from Student Living Reception, then access can be put straight onto your student ID card.

Where a Salto card is issued on your arrival you will be able to use this card for the whole period of your stay. You will not be able to move the access to the building onto your student ID card.

If any of your access cards/keys stop working or have been lost, please visit Student Living Team who will be happy to help you. You can contact the Student Living Team by visiting them in person or by telephone. Please note that if you have lost your access card, then there will be a charge for the replacement.  The Student Living Team will advise you of the cost.

If you have locked yourself out of your residential building outside of office hours and ask Security Personnel to let you into your building/flat/room, there is a charge of £15 for this service. This amount will be added to your University account and will be payable within seven days. Security can be contacted by telephone on 01895 266943.
