As a Brunel student you will have access to the computer network in your room including wireless access. You can bring your own ethernet cable or buy one from The Student Living Office for a small charge. Once you have arrived and are checked into your room the internet access in your room will be enabled.
New students will need to have completed their provisional enrolment on e-Vision before they arrive to ensure to obtain the username and password required to access the internet in the Halls of Residence. As long as you meet the Computer Centre criteria you will be issued a user name and create a password. Once you arrive on campus and collect your keys to your room, you should get internet access (via cable or Wi-Fi) using this user name and password.
Provided returning students have provisionally enrolled and meet the Computer Centre criteria they will also be able to access the internet in the Halls of Residence once they have collected their keys.
If you are not able to complete the provisional enrolment prior to your arrival or do not meet the criteria you can visit the Student Centre upon arrival. Once you have completed your enrolment, you will be given your user name and password and will then be able to connect to the internet in your room/Halls of Residence.
If you have provisionally enrolled and you are still experiencing problems with your internet connection in the Halls of Residence please contact The Student Living Team who will be able to advise you further.
If you are required to change/swap rooms internet connection will be disconnected at the end of your old contract and will only be re-connected in your new room when your move is complete. If you remain in the same room your internet connection should not be affected. For any enquiries relating to this please contact your Student Living Reception.
If you are a visiting student and you already hold a JaNET account with your home University you may be able to access the Eduroam (education roaming) wireless network. Full details of this service can be found at online.
Wireless internet connection (Visitor@Brunel) is available in the Halls of Residence for our visitors. Log in details and instructions will be supplied once you have accepted your contract online. Brunel staff should be able to connect to Wifi@Brunel in their accommodation using their mobile device after you have registered it online. More information for staff can be found online .
If you are under 18 your parent or guardian will need to sign and return a consent form before you are able access Visitor@Brunel. Please email the Student Living Team to request a copy of this document.
Please note Visitor@Brunel access will be activated once the Residences Teams have checked you in on the University system. If you arrive at the weekend this may mean access is not available until next working day (e.g. Monday) when the system is updated.
If you have graduated, are a past student or not fully enrolled you will not be able to access the network. For full details please contact the Network Team.
